Tommy Langford, the British Middleweight Champion, is coming to free@last on Wednesday 18th April at 7pm, to talk about how boxing changed his life and to give us a demo training session. This is a free event open to 10-25 year olds from Nechells.
After a very long and challenging journey we have finally completed our very special youth and community centre, built specifically for our children and young people. We would like to invite you to join us on our open days on Friday 20th April, between 10am and 12 noon or 2pm and 6pm; or Saturday 21st April 10am to 4pm. We look forward to seeing you.
We had a great time on Christmas Day, as 8 amazing people volunteered to help get the hall ready and cook for 29 people, who had booked onto our Festive Food time together. We had great company, great food and lovely presents. Thank you to all who came, helped and donated – we are looking forward to this year’s festivities already! 🙂
After a very long journey we have finally completed our new centre! We are open for youth clubs on a Tuesday and Thursday, a coffee morning on a Thursday, daily appointments available for our debt & benefit advice and appointments available for our in-house counsellor too!
There are many more activities being planned and many voluntary opportunities too, so feel free to pop in and have a chat with us (for volunteer opportunities please come on a Monday and ask for Jacqui or use the contact form from this website).
Rohan clothing stores offer an amazing opportunity to their customers to exchange old items of outdoor clothing, whilst receiving discounts off new items purchased. The clothing collected during this scheme is then donated to charity, of which free@last is a beneficiary. We are very thankful to Rohan and their customers for our second gift of outdoor gear, and to our local store manager Anthony at their Lichfield shop.
At Free@Last we are committed to providing better opportunities for the children and young people of Nechells. We do so by organising youth clubs aimed at providing a safe and fun environment for children and young people to chill out and relax. Our work would not be possible without funding and charity donations, however.
This September, our friends at Strategy Plus organised a charity golf day which collected much-needed funds for Free@last, as well as raising awareness about the lack of opportunities for many children and young people in Nechells.
Have a look below to see some of the pictures from the event:
